Congratulations to Marvin Marburger, the new Round Top Rifle Association Schützenkönig!

Crowning the shooting king Marvin held off challenges from more than 30 Rifle Hall members to capture the crown of Schützenkönig, or Shooting King, from last year's winner, Larry Birkelbach. After the initial qualifying round, Marvin won two additional rounds to claim the title. Congratulations to our 2014 Schützenkönig!

That evening, neighbors from far and wide came to the Hall to celebrate Marvin's victory. The Rifle Association members entered the Hall at 6:00, circling the Hall in their traditional march.  Marvin was then introduced to the crowd and crowned with the traditional cedar wreath.  RTRA President Michael Sacks pinned the gold Schützenkönig medal on Marvin's chest, after which the new könig was lifted high on the shoulders of Rifle Hall members. Next, a traditional keg of beer brought in from Germany for the event was tapped. Marvin poured beer for all, as the tradition demands.
